Labeling

General
-
MZRS
can provide boxes or fibre drums for lamps; 55-gallon steel drums
with lids or 5-gallon poly-pails with lids for ballasts, batteries
or mercury containing articles or gaylords for computer/electronic
devices for a nominal usage fee.

ALL ITEMS MUST
BE PROTECTED FROM THE WEATHER WHILE IN STORAGE.

MZRS
can provide labels for proper labeling of items during storage and
transportation.

MZRS
will provide and prepare a Bill of Lading or Manifest for shipment.
-

and a MZRS representative will contact you to schedule
the pickup or delivery.
Lamps
-
Lamps must be containerized
to avoid breakage.
-
Lamps must be shrink-wrapped
and palletized for pickup by MZRS.
-
DO NOT
tape lamps together. Lamps taped together will be charged an additional
fee of $0.25 per lamp.
-
Lamps can be packed
in their original boxes; no other packing materials are necessary.

Label Container
with the words “Used Electric Lamps” or with Universal
Waste Label. Labels are available from MZRS.

Pack lamps tight
in box to avoid breakage from vibration.
-
Do not place other
debris in the lamp containers.
-
Count the lamps
and write the quantity of lamps on the outside of the container.
-
Boxes of lamps
must be closed and secured with tape.
-
Large quantities
of lamps should be palletized and shrink-wrapped.
-
Broken lamps must
be placed in a separate sealed container labeled “BROKEN LAMPS”
-
Ballasts
-
Ballasts may be
packed in 55-gallon steel drums with lids, or for smaller quantities
in 5-gallon plastic drums with lids. MZRS will also
accept ballasts shrink-wrapped to a pallet.

Do not place debris
in with the container with the ballasts.
-
Do not crush ballast(s),
this may cause leaks.
-
Leaking Ballasts
must be wrapped in double polybags and containerized separately from
non-Leaking Ballasts. If leaking Ballasts are found in containers
of Non-Leaking Ballasts, the whole container will be contaminated
and an additional fee will be charged for the incineration of the
contaminated ballasts.

MZRS
recommends a maximum of 750 pounds of ballasts per 55-gallon steel
drum.

Batteries
-
Batteries should
be stored in a dry, well-ventilated area.
-
Store dry cell
batteries in 5-gallon poly-pails or 55-gallon steel drums with a poly
liner.
-
Wet cell batteries
should be stored on skids with a layer of cardboard between each skid
and a maximum of 3 layers. The layers should be shrink-wrapped to
the pallet.

Do not place debris
in the container with the batteries.
Batteries should be labeled with Universal labels, indicated the type
and date
accumulated “Used
Batteries”. MZRS has Universal Waste Labels
available.

Do not seal the
top of the battery container(s) during storage to allow for proper
ventilation. Lids should be sealed during transportation.

Mercury Containing Articles
-
Mercury containing
articles should be stored in 5-gallon poly-pails with lids or 55-gallon
steel drums with lids.
Do not dismantle the mercury containing articles (thermometers, switches
etc.)
Do not place debris in the container with the mercury containing articles.
Label container with Universal Waste Label, available from MZRS.
Computer/Electronic Equipment

Monitors, hard
drives, circuit boards etc. and other electronic can be stored in
a gaylord or shrink-wrapped to a pallet.

Label container
with the types and quantities of items (example 5 – monitors,
2 – keyboards, 2 – hard drives)

and Airbags
